We need more diversity in school holidays

Most companies and schools in America only give students the day off for Christian holidays such as Good Friday & Christmas, but other religious holidays are just as important. While Christian holidays can seem the most riveting, inclusive, and broad enough to have days off for; many other religions have very important holidays that need days off too.

Passover is a very important holiday for jewish people. Jews celebrate the Feast of Passover to commemorate the liberation of the Children of Israel who were led out of Egypt by Moses. When the pharaoh enslaved the children, God brought 10 plagues to Egypt. There was an angel who was set to passover houses that put lambs blood on their door. Passover is one of the most important religious festivals in the Jewish calendar and they need a day off.

Rosh Hashanah is a Jewish New year where they celebrate the anniversary of God’s creation of Adam and Eve. They celebrate by lighting candles in the evening, praying, and having festive meals. it would be  great to give them time off for their holiday.

lastly Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement. On Yom Kippur, God makes the final decision on what the next year will be like for each person. This is one of the most important holidays to jews because it decides the outcome for the next year.


Jewish holidays are just as important as any other holidays and they should receive time off
